Te Puna, Feilding: a Manawatū Wedding Venue Review
A renovated barn on a rolling farm just out of Feilding, where you bring your own everything & the party spills onto the lawn. Reviewed by the team who photographed a wedding here.
Te Puna is one of our favourite venues in the whole Manawatū, & we got to shoot J & E's wedding here right on the tail of 2025! It's a farm just out of Feilding with a beautifully renovated barn, rolling hills in every direction, & a whole day that you basically get to build yourself. So here's our honest review :)
Short version: if you want big open countryside, a barn full of character, & the freedom to bring your own food, drinks & food trucks so the day feels completely yours, Te Puna is so worth a look!

Te Puna
A renovated barn on a rolling farm near Feilding.
Te Puna sits on a farm at Feilding, about 25 minutes from Palmerston North, with a gorgeous renovated barn, concrete floors, big wooden beams & so much natural light. The folding glass doors open right out onto the lawn, so as the night rolls on it flows from inside to out.
The barn itself is full of character, weatherboard, corrugated iron & reclaimed church details, & those old farm barns nearby are a dream at golden hour. It seats up to 150 & there's homestead accommodation on site, so your closest people can stay the night :)

A barn built for a good party
Dinner under festoon lights, then out onto the lawn.
The reception space is our favourite bit. Long tables under the beams, festoon lights strung overhead, & those big doors thrown open so guests drift between the barn & the lawn all night.
It's got that relaxed, everyone-together feel that the best country weddings have. Nobody's stuck in one stiff room, the kids run around outside, & the whole thing just breathes.

Bring your own everything
Your food, your drinks, food trucks & all.
This is the big one for a lot of couples, Te Puna lets you bring your own food & drink. Cater it however you like, roll in a food truck, stock your own bar, & suddenly the day is completely on your terms (& usually a lot kinder on the budget too).
It's a rare thing to find, & it's a huge part of why the day here feels so personal. You're not fitting into someone else's package, you're building your own.

Those rolling hills
Big open countryside & golden late light.
For photos, the land does so much of the work. Rolling farm paddocks, post-and-rail fences, tall tree avenues & long golden grass, all within a short walk of the barn.
That late Manawatū light out here is honestly gorgeous, & there's room to breathe, so we're never rushing the couple between spots. A dream to shoot.

J & E
A relaxed day, completely their own.
You can feel it in the photos, J & E built the day exactly how they wanted it & just got to enjoy it. Big open grounds, that classic car, & a crew of people who clearly love them.
That's the real magic of Te Puna. It hands the whole day back to you, & when a couple feels that free, it shows in every frame.
